Magnet Night Performance

Hey Symphonic & Jazz Band!!!

In a few weeks, our Jazz Band has an performance at Milwee’s Magnet Night, an open house type event that displays all of the wonderful programs Milwee has to offer to all current 5th grade students. Traditionally Jazz Band performs a small set in the cafeteria as a “Pre-Show”, but the last few years we invited any Symphonic Band student who wants to volunteer and perform help us introduce people to the world of band!

We had about 50 Symphonic Band students playing all around campus in past years in small groups it was a huge success! I would like to extend the same invitation again this year to all Symphonic Band students to receive volunteer service hours by performing at Magnet Night. Pick up is between 7:30pm and 8:00pm.

Jazz Band: Please shoot me an email if you cannot attend this upcoming performance for any reason. Thanks for communicating!

Here are some details regarding our performance next Thursday evening:
Magnet Night Performance:  Thursday, November 11th, after school/evening.

Jazz Students will be wearing their GREEN T-SHIRT plus JEANS, BELT, and SNEAKERS/CLOSED-TOE SHOES.

Symphonic Students may also match the jazz uniform, or may also wear other type of pants.

I’ll be staying after school to provide all supervision for students if you can’t go home/come back. I can order a pizza/drink/dessert for students who bring $5.

We will be setting up after school, eating at 5:15, and warming up at 5:50pm in the Cafeteria. We will play through our set list at 6:10 then quickly moving our equipment back to the band area so if enough members stay, we can play a set later.

After our cafeteria performance students are encouraged to stay to help answer questions and meet potential future band members. Service hours will be offered to students who stay for the event.
Thank you so much for supporting us in this annual tradition! Looking forward to presenting some of our newer music to you and our guests!

Kind regards,

Joshua Autrey

Lyman/Milwee Mentoring Program - FREE TUTORING!

I am excited to announce that our partnership with Lyman HS’s band program is continuing this year by offering Milwee students a chance to get free private help from Lyman HS band students.

Starting on Tuesday, October 19th, Lyman High School band students will be visiting our campus to help our students learn their SCALES, ALL-COUNTY MUSIC, WINTER CONCERT MUSIC, and other FUNDAMENTALS of performance. Students will also be able to ask for help on any other assignments and “PASS OFFS” that need to be completed.

All Grade levels, classes, and ability levels are encouraged to attend (Beginners, Concert, Symphonic, and Jazz!)

Don’t miss this opportunity to get free and very useful help on your instrument. I will be on site the entire time, rotating around and helping students/mentors throughout the process. It’s a great chance for students to improve and learn from really talented High School Musicians.
Plus IT’S FREE!!!!

We will be meeting on most Tuesdays between October 19th and November 16th (The times will be from 4:15pm until 5:30pm. Pick up no later than 6pm.)

No pre-signup is necessary, just show up to get extra help!

That’s it for now! Thank you for your support in music and band.
