Hey Symphonic & Jazz Band!!!
In a few weeks, our Jazz Band has an performance at Milwee’s Magnet Night, an open house type event that displays all of the wonderful programs Milwee has to offer to all current 5th grade students. Traditionally Jazz Band performs a small set in the cafeteria as a “Pre-Show”, but the last few years we invited any Symphonic Band student who wants to volunteer and perform help us introduce people to the world of band!
We had about 50 Symphonic Band students playing all around campus in past years in small groups it was a huge success! I would like to extend the same invitation again this year to all Symphonic Band students to receive volunteer service hours by performing at Magnet Night. Pick up is between 7:30pm and 8:00pm.
Jazz Band: Please shoot me an email if you cannot attend this upcoming performance for any reason. Thanks for communicating!
Here are some details regarding our performance next Thursday evening:
Magnet Night Performance: Thursday, November 11th, after school/evening.
Jazz Students will be wearing their GREEN T-SHIRT plus JEANS, BELT, and SNEAKERS/CLOSED-TOE SHOES.
Symphonic Students may also match the jazz uniform, or may also wear other type of pants.
I’ll be staying after school to provide all supervision for students if you can’t go home/come back. I can order a pizza/drink/dessert for students who bring $5.
We will be setting up after school, eating at 5:15, and warming up at 5:50pm in the Cafeteria. We will play through our set list at 6:10 then quickly moving our equipment back to the band area so if enough members stay, we can play a set later.
After our cafeteria performance students are encouraged to stay to help answer questions and meet potential future band members. Service hours will be offered to students who stay for the event.
Thank you so much for supporting us in this annual tradition! Looking forward to presenting some of our newer music to you and our guests!
Kind regards,
Joshua Autrey
