OVERVIEW:
  1. Spring Concert Detials
  2. Wednesday Pep Band Opportunity (girls basketball team)
  3. Reward Trip to UNIVERSAL STUDIOS reminder
  4. Summer Band Camp reminder

1. Spring Concert Details
Just reminder that our Spring Concert for all students is on Wednesday, May 9th at 6:30pm in the Lyman High School Auditorium. ALL students report time is between 5:30 and 6pm:  beginning band will go directly to the stage and Concert/Symphonic band students will find their assigned seat near the back of the hall.

Students should NOT to bring their instrument case into the auditorium this concert -- students should keep their instrument cases in the car and only bring their instrument and music into the auditorium.  All Milwee owned instruments will be turned in after the concert at Lyman HS -- students who have a home tuba, baritone, french horn, or any other wind instrument MUST check their instrument in with Mr. Autrey after the concert before leaving. We will take care of transporting the instruments back to Milwee from Lyman, on your behalf.
All students are to wear the same uniform that was utilized to at the Winter Concert.
For beginners,  please wear the green Milwee Band T-Shirt with black pants, black socks, black shoes, and a black belt.
Concert Band, please wear the uniform polo shirt, black pants, black shoes, black socks, and black belt.
Symphonic Band and Jazz Band students should wear the tuxedo uniform.
Thank you all for your hard work and support this year! The students and myself are very excited to share our final concert music with you, it’s going to be a fun show! We expect the concert to conclude at 8pm, with clean up/inventory drop to be concluded just after 8:15pm.

 2. Wednesday Pep Band Opportunity (girls basketball team)

Thanks to all of the students who came out last week to support our UNDEFEATED JV and Varsity teams! It was a blast!!! We will have another opportunity to perform for the girls BBall team again this Wednesday, April 25th. The game ran a little longer than expected (we were done at 6:30pm instead of 6pm), but you can leave when you need. I will stay this time for the entire varsity and JV games, until about 6:30pm. Pick up should be no later than 7pm.

 3. Universal Field Trip - Trip Date is May 19th (Payment Due soon, May 2nd!)
Our Universal Studios student payment deadline is fast approaching! I’m sorry about any confusion about the field trip form and file saying “Islands of Adventure” -- this was an oversight on my part -- we are going to UNIVERSAL STUDIOS this year. Please continue to use the same form that was previously emailed on 3/26/2018.
All registration forms and payments are due WEDNESDAY, MAY 2nd! We will then send out chaperone invitations once we know how many total we need and will let you know how much the chaperone ticket will be! Thank you for the high volume of interest in chaperoning students!
We are now accepting ONLINE PAYMENTS for this trip from our band website. Please visit there if you turned in your form and have not paid. Remember ALL students going must pay and turn in the trip form.
Please visit our band website (www.milweeband.com) if you need another copy of the Universal trip form.

Music Performance Assessment RESULTS!

4/10/2018

WOW! It never ceases to amaze me how much young people can accomplish with a strong dedication to excellence, perseverance, and diligent practice. Our Milwee Concert and Symphonic Band students lived up to that billing this past week at our annual Music Performance Assessment. Our bands were lauded for being wonderful ambassadors on behalf of our school, performing music at a an exceptionally mature level, and demonstrating excellence in focus throughout their time at the festival. BRAVO MILWEE BAND! I am so proud to be apart of your team.

As for our “score/rating” -- I am so pleased to announce that Concert Band received straight Excellent on stage, and a Superior in Sight Reading; Symphonic Band received straight Superior Ratings in both stage and Sight Reading (also achieving “Straight A” markings in every category, from each adjudicator)! This is a wonderful feat for our students. CONGRATULATIONS!

I’ve uploaded both band’s concert recordings to YOUTUBE, you can find the links to each song below. They sound GREAT!  Students, I hope you cherish these recordings and enjoy listening to them time and time again.
Beginner students! Please take a few minutes to listen, it’s well worth it for you to see what your musical future holds at our school.
